Licence¶

1. What this covers¶

This licence covers the heusor software package as distributed by us — including its compiled native module (the "Engine") and its Python code — and its documentation (together, the "Software").

2. What you may do¶

Subject to this licence, we grant you a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, royalty-free licence to:

install and use the Software, for any purpose, including commercial use;
build, run and distribute your own applications that use the Software, provided the people who receive your application obtain the Software from us (for example from PyPI) or receive an unmodified copy of it together with this licence.

3. What you may not do¶

You may not, except where applicable law expressly allows it despite this restriction:

reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Engine, or attempt to derive its source code;
modify the Engine, or distribute a modified copy of the Software;
distribute the Software on its own, sell it, rent it or sublicense it;
remove or alter any copyright, licence or third-party notice in the Software.

4. Third-party software¶

The Software includes third-party components under their own licences (MIT, Apache-2.0 and others), listed with their licence texts in heusor/THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt. Those licences govern those components, and nothing in this licence restricts rights they grant you.

5. Ownership¶

We, and our licensors, own the Software and all rights in it. This licence gives you no right to our names, logos or trade marks.

6. Versions and changes¶

This licence applies to the version of the Software it accompanies. We may offer later versions under different terms; that does not change the terms of a version you already have.

7. No warranty¶

The Software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You are responsible for checking that results produced with the Software are suitable for your purpose — in particular for any decision that affects people (for example staff rosters).

8. Limitation of liability¶

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or business, arising from the Software or this licence; and our total liability arising from the Software or this licence is limited to £100. Nothing in this licence limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

9. Termination¶

This licence ends automatically if you breach it. On termination you must stop using the Software and delete your copies. Sections 4, 5, 7, 8 and 10 survive termination.

10. Law¶

This licence is governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
